Anna Catharina Lambrechts-Vos (1876-1932)

Anna Lambrechts-Vos had lessons with J. Schravesande and Johan Sikemeier (piano, organ and theory) in her native city of Rotterdam. Afterwards she has studied with Bernard Zweers and Wouter Hutschenruyter Jr.

From 1894 till the death of her husband in 1926 she was organist of several churches in Rotterdam. She has also been active as a choral conductor and teacher, and performed in recitals of her own songs as accompanist.

Her oeuvre consists mainly of chamber music and songs. Her two string quartets Op. 7 (1906-07) received international acclaim. Orchestral works have been played by the orchestra of Utrecht (USO) and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra. Widely known were a volume of children’s songs (1905) and songs on texts in Afrikaans (1925).

She has published reviews and articles in journals such as ‘De Groene Amsterdammer’.
